Vento Lab

Early prototypes and research questions.

Vento Lab is where we investigate technical and product questions through research and development. Early prototypes and internal tools help us examine how AI, software and human interaction can work together, alongside our research in physical systems.

What exists

Current projects

Each project note separates current work from an open question and a possible next experiment. The illustrations explain the concepts. Primer and Gather remain early projects and are not offered for sale at this stage.

A reading source connects to a written answer, feedback and topic cards, with a loop for revisiting the material.01 / LEARNING

Primer

Prototype · Learning

A learning tool exploring how reading, recall and feedback can work together.

What exists today
An early reading and spaced-repetition prototype. The work explores written answers, AI-assisted feedback and a topic map based on a learner’s responses.
Research question & next step
The question
Can written answers and focused feedback make gaps in understanding easier to recognise?
A possible next experiment
Compare a learner’s answer with the source material, review the feedback and see whether the next answer addresses the gap.
Discuss Primer
People and AI agents connect to shared project tasks and documents, with a review point before work is accepted.02 / COLLABORATION

Gather

Internal development · Collaboration

An internal workspace project exploring how people and AI agents can coordinate work as members of a team.

What exists today
A workspace in internal development. The current focus is shared project, task and document context for people and AI agents.
Research question & next step
The question
How can people and AI agents share context while keeping task ownership and review clear?
A possible next experiment
Follow one task from assignment to review, examining what context each participant needs and where a person should approve the result.

Questions we are exploring

Open research questions

An idea here is a question to investigate. It is not a product announcement or a promise of availability.

Care coordination

How could families keep appointments, responsibilities and practical support organised when caring for an older relative?

A starting point: Map a family’s recurring responsibilities and test whether a shared view could make handoffs clearer.

Discuss care coordination research

At-home foot scanning

What information could a person reliably capture at home, and what would make it useful? This is an early research question that would require appropriate clinical partners and validation.

A starting point: Work with a clinical partner to define what information is needed and how the reliability of a capture method would be evaluated.

Discuss the capture research question

Source-based learning

Alongside Primer’s work on recall and feedback, this research direction asks how a tutor could teach from a vetted library, respond to a learner’s answers and help them follow a study plan.

A starting point: Explore one bounded topic and a vetted set of sources, reviewing the tutor’s answers and references with an educator.

A way of working

How a Lab project runs

Start with the uncertainty: the behaviour, technical limit or interaction we need to understand. Define the test, build a focused prototype and compare observations with the intended result. That evidence informs whether to refine the approach, develop a product, keep an internal tool or stop.

How Lab work feeds the rest of Vento

The projects bring different disciplines into contact. Primer connects reading, recall and AI feedback; Gather connects shared software context with human and agent collaboration. Our machine prototypes investigate the relationship between perception and embedded control. Explore the physical prototypes →

A question worth exploring together?

Bring a question, domain experience or a setting for an experiment. We can agree what to test, what evidence to collect and what a useful result would help us decide.
